Social Activities - A Representative Sample
Art-A-Fair Night Out
Each August club members and their wives spend a night at
Laguna Beach
's famous Art-A-Fair. Attendees enjoy dinner under the stars and then tour the art exhibits and other attractions. This event is always well attended and offers a wonderful evening of social interaction mixed with just enough culture.
Adult Christmas Party
Early December witnesses our annual Christmas party for members and their wives. Hosted at a member's home, the evening includes dinner, beverages, lots of socializing and always ends with the singing of carols around the piano.
Kids Christmas Party
Each year children and grandchildren of members are entertained by Past President Santa Claus, whose identity shall be nameless here.
Desert Trek
Another of the club's many social events. The annual "Desert Trek" entails a weekend get away in some warmer climate. Well attended and much anticipated, this trip features golf, eating and socializing, golf, eating and socializing.... (You get the picture.)
Fundraising Activities
Believing that there can never be too much money available for worthy community needs and child abuse prevention in general, each year the club makes the following fundraising efforts.
Movie Benefit Screening
Once every year the club members pull out the stops and rally the troops for our biggest fund raising effort of all - our near world famous First-run Movie Benefit Screening.
This event includes the showing of a yet to be released movie from a major studio, all-you-can-eat samples from several local restaurants, numerous opportunity prize drawings, free commemorative t-shirts and much, much more. As a result of the concerted efforts of all involved, the Movie Benefit Screening produces significant donations and revenues, all of which are used for the prevention of child abuse and other worthy community causes.
Entertainment Book Sales
Each year the club members sell Entertainment Books as an additional fund raiser for the club projects.
Sports Books
The club supports the Cal/Nev District Exchange Club fund raising efforts by purchasing District supplied football sports books.
Football Pool
As a fun activity -with a little
fund raising mixed in - the members participate in a weekly football pool.
Opportunity Drawings at Meetings
Each week's meeting includes a drawing for $20.00 and $10.00 prizes. The remaining proceeds from the ticket sales go into the club's coffers for community benefit activities.
